On the opening day of the fourth and final round of the MRF MMSC fmsci Indian National Car Racing Championship 2024 – Powered by STORM-X at the Madras International Circuit on Saturday, Shillong teenagers Jaden Rahman Pariat and Bengaluru’s Abhay Mohan delivered outstanding performances to win the MRF single-seater categories.
Jaden, 17, established a blistering speed from pole position to win his eighth race in ten starts in the MRF Formula 2000, while Abhay, 16, maintained his unblemished streak in the MRF Formula 1600 category. Neither Jaden nor Abhay were significantly challenged in their respective races, which were held simultaneously.
In other news, Mumbai’s Biren Pithawalla (N1 Racing) won for the eighth time in a row in the premier Indian Touring Cars class, holding off Chennai’s Deepak Ravikumar (Performance Racing), who drove a strong race to finish second after overtaking Ananth Pithawalla (N1 Racing) on the final lap.
Srinivas Teja (Performance Racing) and Balaprasath (DTS Racing) won the Indian Junor Touring Cars and Super Stock categories in a race marked by intense battles in which only a few cars exchanged paint.
Viswas Vijayaraj of Nellore led DTS Racing to a podium sweep and his sixth win, securing the Formula LGB 1300 title. His teammates Balaprasath (Coimbatore) and Diljith TS (Thrissur) finished second and third, respectively.
There was lots of action in the Polo Cup, with three of the six races scheduled being finished. All three races produced different winners, highlighting the grid’s competitiveness. Aditya Patnaik (Mumbai), Dhruv Chavan (Lonavla), and Romir Arya (Mumbai), the category’s youngest contender, each won a brace each.
Meanwhile, Daiana Pundole, a mother of two from Pune, dominated the MRF Saloons race, finishing ahead of Chennai’s Anirudha Aravind and Chikkamagaluru’s Arunshi Vikram.
