Pakistan batter Mohamamd Rizwan supports Haris Rauf, sparks ‘India’ row

Rauf initially assumed the person was Indian, but a fan later claimed he was actually from Pakistan

After video of star pacer Haris Rauf losing his cool and nearly getting into physical confrontation with fan went viral on social media, Mohammad Rizwan became the most recent Pakistan cricket player to speak out in favor of the player.

Rauf has gotten support from his teammates and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) following the incident.

In forceful social media statement, Mohsin Naqvi threatened legal action from the PCB unless the incident’s perpetrators offered an apology.

On social media, Rauf was defended by number of Pakistani players, including Mohammad Hafeez, Shaheen Afridi, and Hasan Ali.

But Rizwan’s post drew attention from cricket enthusiasts on social media. While criticizing the behavior, the Pakistani wicketkeeper batter raised questions about the person’s nationality: Was he Indian or Pakistani?

“It is irrelevant whether the person who disrespected Haris Rauf was from Pakistan or India. What truly matters is that this individual lacked values and manners. No one has the right to disrespect any human being, especially in front of their family members. Such appalling behavior must be stopped. Values like tolerance, respect, and compassion are increasingly rare commodities,” Rizwan said in a statement on social media platform X.
The microblogging site’s users were displeased with the Pakistani star’s post, and they responded to it quickly.
For those who don’t know, in the viral video, Rauf initially assumed the person was Indian, but fan later claimed he was actually from Pakistan.

Rauf explained the situation and justified his actions earlier in the day, claiming that his family and parents had been attacked.
“I decided to not bring this to social media, but now that the video is out, I feel it is necessary to address the situation. As public figures, we are open to receiving all kinds of feedback rom the public. They are entitled to support or criticize us. Nevertheless, when it comes to my parents and my family, I will not hesitate to respond accordingly. It is important to show respect towards people and their families, irrespective of their professions,” Rauf said in his statement on social media.
