Yamaha XSR155: Yamaha Motor India recently launched the Yamaha XSR155. It uses a 155cc engine, the same engine that powers the MT-15 and R15. Furthermore, all three are designed for different types of riders. Here, we’re explaining the differences between these three motorcycles.

Yamaha XSR155 vs MT-15 vs R15: Design

Yamaha XSR155: This is the most affordable retro-roadster motorcycle in India with a liquid-cooled engine. It features a neo-retro look. It features wide handlebars and a flat single-piece seat, which provides a comfortable and upright riding posture.

Yamaha MT-15: This is a streetfighter motorcycle. Its design is quite modern, and its headlight resembles a character from the movie “Transformers.”

Yamaha R15: It borrows the design language from the powerful Yamaha R1, giving it a distinct road presence.

Yamaha XSR155 vs MT-15 vs R15: Riding Position

XSR155: It features wide handlebars and a flat, single-piece seat. This provides a comfortable riding position, with the rider maintaining an upright and relaxed posture.

R15: It features clip-on handlebars and rear-set footpegs. This requires the rider to maintain a crouched riding posture, prioritizing control over comfort.

MT-15: It offers a riding position similar to both the XSR155 and R15. It’s suitable for city and track riding. It offers excellent sporty riding.

XSR155 vs MT-15 vs R15: Features

XSR155: It only has a simple LCD console with smartphone connectivity for call/SMS and email alerts. For safety, it has a Traction Control System (TCS), though this may seem excessive for a 155cc bike.

MT-15: Its premium DLX variant gets a TFT console with turn-by-turn navigation. Like the XSR155, TCS is standard.

R15: It gets the same premium TFT console as the Yamaha MT-15, along with track-ready features like an optional quickshifter. The quickshifter offers clutchless upshifts, making it perfect for tracks and winding roads.

Yamaha XSR155 vs MT-15 vs R15: Engine

All three have the same 155cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine. The engine produces 18.4 PS of power and 14.2 Nm of torque. In keeping with its streetfighter nature, the MT-15 features a larger 52-tooth rear sprocket compared to the R15’s 48-tooth sprocket. This change makes the MT-15 more versatile than the R15 for everyday use.
