Is Sheikh Hasina’s downfall in Bangladesh a result of foreign intervention?
Some media reports claim that China and the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) of Pakistan are responsible for Hasina’s downfall.
On Monday, Hasina, Bangladesh’s longstanding prime minister, announced her resignation and left the nation.
This came about after protests against the government over the weekend over the contentious quota system claimed the lives of over 100 people.
But did Pakistan and China plot to remove Hasina?
On Monday, senior intelligence sources informed the media that Hasina was being coerced into resigning by Pakistan’s ISI through the use of students.
Officials stated that the goal was to set up a government hostile to India.
They stated that ISI sleeper cells were also being deployed against Hasina.
“Jamat and their student group Chhatra Shivir are being used by ISI to make the situation in Dhaka worse. Jamat is thought to be quite close to Pakistan, and they occasionally receive covert support. The Pakistani mission in Dhaka often provides them with orders and briefings, they claimed. “Jamat and their student group Chhatra Shivir are being used by ISI to make the situation in Dhaka worse. The student branch of Jaamati-e-Islami Bangladesh, the Islami Chhatra Shibir, was stoking the anti-Hasina protests. All of this is intended to topple the Hasina government and install a new one that would be far more accommodating to Beijing and Islamabad while turning a blind eye to the terror organizations that practice Islam in Bangladesh.
Earlier this year, the ISI-backed Jamaat-e-Islami got significant financial support in its effort to topple the Sheikh Hasina government. An official told the media that a large amount of this funding is thought to have come from Chinese companies doing business in Pakistan. For some time now, intelligence services have been keeping an eye on the ICS.
According to reports, the student branch collaborates with the ISI-backed Deobandi terrorist organization Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami (HuJI), which is based in Pakistan.
Establishing a government in Bangladesh akin to that of the Taliban is the ultimate goal of Jamaat or ICS, and the ISI has been promising them assistance in this endeavor. Following the development of closer relations between the governments of India and Bangladesh, their closeness became obvious.
“They are able to access different border entrance points into India for a variety of purposes because to this. They want Pakistan to be supported and the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) to take power,” the officials continued.

China eyeing Bangladesh entry?
A pro-Pakistani new government in Dhaka will only serve China’s interests. Anyway, MSS has been acting more proactively lately.
A recent propaganda movie released by the MSS in China serves as an illustration of this, warning of “foreign spies being everywhere.”
This was remarkably atypical for MSS, an officer stated.
In a Monday interview with The Tribune, former Bangladesh High Commissioner Veena Sikri described the current events in Bangladesh as “worrisome for India.”
Sikri stated that she did not rule out the possibility of foreign intervention in the situation and added that a student movement in the neighboring country to abolish quotas had inadvertently turned into a political demonstration. She brought up the issue of Jamaat-e-Islami members attending protests despite a ban on the Islamist group.
