The Zorawar Light Tank, which was created in India, is preparing for a series of rigorous trials to evaluate its performance in various battle scenarios and terrains. The tank will first be sent to the Combat Vehicles Research & Development Establishment (CVRDE) in Avadi for extensive testing of its main 105mm gun. The tank is now held at L&T’s Hazira plant.
The Zorawar will next be transported to Chandigarh and then to the strategically positioned Mahe Field Firing Range (MFFR) at Nyoma, which is close to the Line of Actual Control (LAC) between India and China. During the approaching winter trials, this site will be used to test the tank’s capabilities in demanding, high-altitude conditions.
In order to assess the Zorawar’s performance in intense heat and dry circumstances, summer testing will be held at the Mahe Field Firing Range (MFFR) in Suratgarh, Rajasthan, after the winter trials. The purpose of these extensive trials, which will take place over the whole year 2026, is to refine the design of the tank and make sure it is ready for manufacturing.

The Indian Army intends to purchase 59 Zorawar Light Tanks in the first batch when the testing are successful; an additional order for 300 tanks is being considered. An important step toward India’s self-sufficiency in armored vehicle technology has been taken with the construction of this locally designed tank, which meets the unique needs of high-altitude warfare.
