The capabilities of India’s armed forces were improved in 2024 with the commissioning and introduction of several significant defense platforms. One of these was the second Arihant-Class submarine, INS Arighaat, being put into service.

INS Arighaat

On August 29, at Visakhapatnam, the Indian Navy officially commissioned the second Arihant-Class submarine, “INS Arighaat.” The defense ministry claims that the building of INS Arighaat required sophisticated engineering, intricate research and development, the use of unique materials, sophisticated design and manufacturing techniques, and highly skilled workmanship. Indian scientists, industry, and naval personnel conceptualized, designed, built, and integrated the submarine’s indigenous systems.

INS Tushil

On December 9, 2024, the Indian Navy commissioned its newest multi-role stealth-guided missile frigate. It is a Project 1135 Krivak III class frigate that has been updated.Three Talwar class ships, constructed at the Baltiysky shipyard in St. Petersburg, and three subsequent Teg class ships, constructed at the Yantar shipyard in Kaliningrad, are among the six that are now in service. In October 2016, JSC Rosoboronexport, the Indian Navy, and the Indian government inked a deal for the first of two modernized follow-on ships, INS Tushil, the seventh in the series. Equipped with a variety of cutting-edge weaponry, it is built for blue water operations in all four aspects of naval warfare: air, surface, subsurface, and electromagnetic.

LCH Prachand

The Indian Air Force (IAF) received a major boost in February 2024 with the completion of the induction process of the locally manufactured Light Combat Helicopter (LCH).

“IAF personnel were vigorously trained on the system and the LCH successfully participated in Ex Gagan Shakti in April 2024,” the defence ministry informed in a statement.
