With Taliban taking over the reins of Afghanistan three years ago, the overall security improved considerably as insurgency ended, but its economy remains stagnant leading to a worsening humanitarian crisis.
Roughly 40 million Afghans live on bread and tea, said the United Nations. According to it there is massive unemployment in the country. The World Bank has also warned of zero growth over the next three years.
However, there have also been some positive changes since the Taliban takeover in 2021.
The currency has been resilient, corruption is no longer a major issue, and tax collection has also improved.
Taliban government, which remains unrecognized, has also built economic, commercial, transit and investment ties in the region, Ahmad Zahid, deputy commerce and industry minister was quoted as saying by the reports.
Afghanistan has great mineral and agricultural potential, which the Taliban government is attempting to exploit, but they are impeded by poor infrastructure and a lack of domestic and foreign expertise and capital.
Though Afghans welcome the improved security in their lives, many are just trying to make ends meet.
People say their businesses are improving with many of them set to double production in the years to come.
The overall improved security climate has done away with the need for having private guards.
Despite Taliban government restricting women work outside home, certain business houses still hire them.
Securing visas for foreign trips under Taliban rule is also a major problem in Afghanistan as several nations have closed their embassies in the wake of the Taliban takeover.
Afghan passports are rated the worst in the world.

Music has also got badly affected under the Taliban rule as they have prohibited public performances of music, deeming it un-Islamic, leaving thousands involved in the industry destitute.
Taliban took over Kabul on August 15, 2021, after the US-backed government collapsed and its leaders fled into exile.
Taliban celebrated the third anniversary of their takeover of Afghanistan on August 14 by organizing a military parade at a former US military base and festivities in other important cities of the country.
