BrahMos, India’s homegrown supersonic cruise missile, is quickly becoming well-known throughout the world. The joint company between India and Russia, BrahMos Aerospace, is actively negotiating the purchase of this powerful missile system with at least four more nations after the sale to the Philippines was completed successfully.
Vietnam and Indonesia, two countries in Southeast Asia, have shown a strong interest in the BrahMos missile because they see its strategic importance in enhancing their marine capabilities. Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, two of the region’s superpowers, are also in talks to purchase the missile.
This month, a Brazilian delegation is anticipated in India to discuss the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile.
As the necessity of air defense systems grows due to continuous worldwide wars, several countries have indicated interest in the Brahmos missile.
The group is visiting after General Tomas Miguel Mine Ribeiro Paiva, the Commander of the Brazilian Army, saw an indigenous weapon platform fire at the Pokhran field firing ranges in August 2023.
In an effort to improve bilateral defense relations, he also met with India’s top military commanders. Prior to it, a group from India that included a number of industry officials had traveled to Rio to look into potential business ventures and additional industrial cooperation.
