A case has been brought by the police against a man and seven members of his family for reportedly giving her the triple talaq after she commended Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the progress of Ayodhya.
In her statement to the police in Bahraich, where her parents reside, Maryam claimed that earlier he had also physically assaulted her and thrown hot “dal” at her. The day the man issued the immediate triple talaq, the husband’s Ayodhya-based family reportedly attempted to strangle her as well.
In a video clip that has gone viral, the woman is heard saying, “I live in Bahraich at Mohalla Sarai on Thana Jarwal Road. I got married to Arshad, son of Islam, who lives in Kotwali Nagar, Ayodhya’s Mohalla Delhi Darwaza, on December 13, 2023. My father got me married with the consent of both parties and by spending more than his means.”
“When I went out in the city after being married, I enjoyed Ayodhya Dham’s roadways because of their atmosphere, development, and beauty. In front of my husband, I commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on this,” she stated in the video.
Maryam’s husband Arshad became enraged after that and sent her back to her mother’s house in Bahraich. She went back to live with her husband in Ayodhya after some family members interfered, according to Inspector (SHO) Brijraj Prasad of the Jarwal Road Police Station. But Arshand called the prime minister and the chief minister names and delivered her triple talaq by saying, “talaq, talaq, talaq,” according to the SHO of the local police station.
Maryam also claimed that she was attempted to be strangled by her brothers-in-law, younger sister-in-law, and mother-in-law. On the day he gave her the triple talaq, her husband also physically assaulted her.
