Red Fort Blast exposes Pakistan’s new terror strategy

Red Fort Blast: The terrorist outfits based in Pakistan are turning to adopt innovative methods to further their nefarious designs. This was reflected in the blast which rocked the area around the historic Red Fort in New Delhi on November 10.

On Monday night (November 10), a car bomb went off close to the Red Fort, killing thirteen people and injured numerous others. The explosion happened just hours after eight persons were taken into custody and 2,900 kg of explosives were found, revealing a “white collar” terror module spanning Kashmir, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh that included the Jaish-e-Mohammed and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind.

Doctors Muzammil Ganaie and Shaheen Sayeed, who are associated with the Al Falah University in Faridabad, where 360 kg of ammonium nitrate was found, were among those detained almost immediately after the incident.

Who are the other doctors involved in the plot?

Dr Muzammil Ahmad Ganai from Pulwama in Kashmir was nabbed from Faridabad on Monday โ€” with officials finding a massive cache of suspected ammonium nitrate, weapons and bomb-making equipment at his rented home. He had worked as a doctor with Al-Falah University and taught MBBS students. His colleague, Dr Adeel Ahmad Rather, is believed to be the second suspect, while a third Al-Falah doctor, Umar Nabi, is believed to be the deceased โ€œbomberโ€ seen in CCTV footage.

The police had found an AK-47 rifle in Rater’s locker at GMC Srinagar after he was taken into custody from Qazigund on Monday night. He is also thought to have been a member of the terror group in Faridabad that gathered weapons, explosives, and bomb-making supplies. Police officials told the media that they believe Nabi is the automobile “bomber” seen in the CCTV footage, but he was still absconding following the arrest of his companions.
