Neymar scored his first goal in his fifth appearance for Al Hilal as the Saudi club defeated Nassaji Mazandaran 3-0 on a quiet day in the Asian Champions League in Tehran on Tuesday. Barely 24 hours after fellow Saudi Arabian team Al Ittihad left Iran without playing in the game against Sepahan, four-time continental champions Al Hilal were too strong for the Iranian hosts at Azadi Stadium.

Aleksandar Mitrovic, signed from English Premier League side Fulham in the summer, scored the opening goal 10 minutes later. Al-Hilal tops Group D

On Monday, Al Ittihad refused to play against Sepahan and returned to Jeddah. This was apparently to protest a courtside bust of General Qassem Soleimani, who commanded Iran’s elite al-Quds Force before being killed in a clash with the United States in January 2020.
