While the 42-year-old had previously mentioned that he would attempt to play for CSK for another season as a “gift” to his fans, no official confirmation of his return had been provided. During a recent event, when Dhoni was asked about his IPL future, he shared an update on his knee surgery recovery and expressed optimism about playing in the IPL 2024.

“I am trying my best. Everyone knows I had surgery on my left knee. The doctor said it will be normal by November, so if everything goes right, you will definitely see me playing in the IPL 2024. Or else, I will be watching with the fans,” Dhoni responded to a fan’s question.
Dhoni recovers from injury
Dhoni played through the 2023 IPL season while managing a knee injury and underwent surgery immediately after the final. With no international commitments, he has ample time for recovery. As the leader of CSK from the beginning of the tournament, he steered them to victory in IPL 2023. It is anticipated that Dhoni will continue to captain the team in what could potentially be his final IPL season in 2024.
