ODI World Cup 2023: These two Indian players make into squad, who were part of 2011 winning team

From the 2011 World Cup to the 2023 World Cup, only two managed to remain in the Men in Blue squad. One of them is Ashwin and the other is Kohli.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the latest India squad for the International Cricket Council (ICC) One Day International (ODI) World Cup 2023 on 28 September. The cricket board made one change in the squad, India’s seasoned spinner Ravichandran Ashwin replaced all-rounder Axar Patel, who missed out due to a left quadriceps strain during the Asia Cup Super 4 match against Bangladesh.

Ashwin was called back into the squad for the Australia series at home as Patel’s replacement. The 37-year-old spinner impressed the selector with his amazing spell in two matches. In the first two played matches Ashwin registered an amazing figure of 1/ 47 and 3/ 41 respectively.

While Washington Sundar, who replaced Axar in the Asia Cup final, was also in the squad, it was clear that if Axar did not recover in time, the Men in Blue would prefer Ashwin over him.

From the 2011 World Cup to the ODI World Cup 2023, only two managed to remain in the Men in Blue squad. The two-player showed immense willpower and remained active in the squad. One of them is Ashwin and the other is Kohli. But Ashwin did not feature in the final against Sri Lanka at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai as India went with the more experienced Harbhajan Singh.

As a youngster, Kohli did conventional work to begin with the World Cup.
