The firm revealed on Thursday that the OnePlus Open Apex Edition will go on sale in India and around the world on August 7. OnePlus will release a new smartphone colorway along with its launch.
But the modifications might not be purely aesthetic; according to a listing on the official website, this new iteration might also receive RAM and storage enhancements. Notably, the 16GB RAM+512GB storage variant of the OnePlus Open was first offered in India in October 2023.
OnePlus Open Apex Edition colour options
The teaser that OnePlus posted on X (formerly Twitter) indicates that the OnePlus Open Apex Edition would be available in a new colorway named Crimson Shadow. It might be a crimson color in the vegan leather style, as the name implies.
This colorway, according to the Chinese tech giant, was inspired by their iconic “Never Settle” red. It is anticipated that this new choice will complement the two current OnePlus Open colorways, Emerald Dusk and Voyager Black.

Open Apex Edition features
This might be an improved version of the foldable smartphone that was introduced last year rather than its replacement. Notably, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset-equipped OnePlus Open 2 is anticipated to make its debut in the second quarter of 2025.
Although OnePlus did not provide any details about the Apex Edition’s features, the majority of the OnePlus Open’s internal components are probably still present. But there might also be some enhancements.
According to a listing on the brand’s website, the Oneplus Open Apex Edition configuration variant may include built-in storage and extra RAM.
The 7.82-inch 2K Flexi-fluid LTPO 3.0 AMOLED primary display on the OnePlus Open has a peak brightness of 2,800 nits and a dynamic refresh rate of 120Hz. It has a 6.31-inch 2K LTPO 3.0 Super Fluid AMOLED display on the outside that has the same peak brightness and refresh rate as the panel inside.
It is equipped with 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage, 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM, and an Adreno 740 GPU, all driven by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 CPU. Based on Android 13, OxygenOS 13.2 powers the Open.
Regarding optical configuration, the Open sports a triple camera setup under the Hasselblad brand. It consists of a 48-megapixel Sony LYT-T808 primary camera featuring optical and electronic image stabilization (OIS and EIS), a 64-megapixel 3X telephoto camera featuring an OmniVision OV64B sensor, and a 48-megapixel Sony IMX581 ultra-wide-angle camera. It has a 20-megapixel front camera on the main display and a 32-megapixel selfie camera on the cover display for taking selfies.
