In order to address the green line screen issue that has affected AMOLED panels recently, the Chinese tech company now looks to be providing a free screen update program for specific handset models in India.
The OnePlus 8 Pro, 8T, OnePlus 9, and 9R are among the older phones manufactured by the Chinese company that are targeted by this effort, which is a component of OnePlus’s Red Cable Club loyalty program.
Starcommander (@Starcommander10), an astute X user, noticed a recent addition to OnePlus’s Red Cable Club reward program. As part of this membership program, the com pany is offering a Lifetime Free Screen Upgrade, according to the screenshot that the user posted.
Users of the OnePlus 8, Pro, 8T, 9, and 9R are qualified for a “free screen upgrade” as well as free phone cleaning and maintenance at OnePlus service centers in India, per this offer. According to the screenshot, OnePlus phones that are free of external damage can take use of this complimentary service. It was improper for them to be “disassembled privately”.

In addition, details regarding the free screen update were revealed in an article by Android Authority. According to reports, the company is launching a free Screen Diagnostics and Service Initiative with three service tiers. Performance and dependability of the screen are examined in the first Comprehensive Diagnostics. A “new, advanced display panel” is provided to qualified users as part of the second Screen Upgrades and Replacements service, which enhances display performance. Lastly, the Deep Cleaning Service guarantees optimal display performance.
According to reports, the smartphone manufacturer has acknowledged that the OnePlus 8 Pro is the main focus of this campaign. Subject to screen availability, the effort will be expanded to include a few earlier models.
“Devices with human-caused damages, such as drops or liquid intrusion, are not eligible for this free upgrade and should be repaired through our standard after-sales service,” according to the report.
It seems that OnePlus is currently only offering this special free screen update to Indian subscribers. It’s rumored that OnePlus is thinking about bringing such perks to other countries, like the US.
