Frances Ha: An indie masterpiece you wouldn’t like to miss

Greta Gerwig.
She’s real. She’s weird. Funny. Like so many of us, hilariously ordinary. Perpetually unsure. Yet confident. However fidgety that could be. Clumsy. And yet self-assured. Broke. But rich in dreams. Proclaimed undateable. Though innately attractive.
Of course we know her in all the pomp of Barbie. Which is definitely rich in its own tapestry. But Frances Ha, co-written with Noam Baumbach, is an intimate letter to her own growing up years in Sacramento, and coming to terms with life in all its spontaneous awkwardness and amusing irony.
This is a fine example of indie finesse where good writing flirts with great acting, leaving you wanting for more.
Frances will be one of my cherished women characters. Much like Greta.
