Govinda: Popular actor Govinda found himself at the center of controversy when a tweet he shared on the recent Gurugram violence incurred the anger of trolls. The tweet, which purportedly referred to Muslim shops being looted in the city, sparked immediate debate and backlash from netizens. In response, Govinda decided to deactivate his social media account, at least temporarily, to escape the relentless criticism.

In the caption Govinda wrote “What have we come down to? Shame on the people who call themselves Hindus and do such things. Aman aur shaanti banaye, hum democracy hai, autocracy nahi.” Govinda took to Twitter to express his thoughts on the Gurugram violence. However, his tweet quickly drew ire from social media users who questioned the accuracy and fairness of his statement. The actor’s post, which has now been deleted, triggered a flood of furious comments, intensifying the debate and raising concerns about communal tensions.
Furious netizens did not hold back in expressing their anger towards Govinda’s tweet. Trolls unleashed a barrage of hateful messages, targeting the actor with derogatory remarks. The intense backlash seemed to take a toll on Govinda, who ultimately decided to step away from social media to avoid further negativity. However Govinda uploaded a video saying that his twitter account was deleted after a post uploaded from his account condemning the Haryana violence. He said that his account was hacked before the post got uploaded and he would never post anything that is insensitive.
At present Govinda is not very active in politics but previously he has served as Congress MP from 2004 to 2009. In 2008 Govinda left politics, later expressing egret about the career change.
