How IAF secured Sheikh Hasina during Bangladesh to India flight

Sheikh Hasina arrived at the Hindon airfield on the outskirts of Delhi on Monday. Sheikh Hasina resigned from her position as prime minister of Bangladesh as a result of historic demonstrations against her administration.

According to officials, the troubled Bangladesh leader entered India before proceeding to London. She traveled to India on a Bangladesh Air Force C130J military transport plane, which landed on Monday night at the Indian Air Force (IAF) base in Hindon, Ghaziabad. Given the threat to her life, the journey from Dhaka to Ghaziabad was extremely sensitive.

As she made her way towards India in search of safety, officials assured the media that Indian security services were prepared for any eventuality. Radars of the Indian Air Force (IAF) were actively monitoring the airspace over Bangladesh during her flight.

The officials reported that at approximately 3 PM, an aircraft flying at low altitude was seen approaching India on IAF radars. Bangladesh Air Force planes were permitted to fly inside Indian airspace by Indian officials. The officials said that they were also told about Hasina’s removal from Bangladesh.

IAF deployed Rafale fighter jets as Sheikh Hasina fled Bangladesh

The IAF flew two Rafale fighter planes to guarantee the Bangladeshi leader’s absolute safety during her flight from Dhaka to Ghaziabad. As a security measure, two Rafale fighter aircraft from the 101 squadron based at the Hashimara air base in West Bengal were in the air above Bihar and Jharkhand. Various ground-based security organizations were intently observing the flight path of the C130J.

They were in constant contact with Bangladeshi officials in charge of her protection as well as the pilots of C130Js. The IAF and Army chiefs, Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari and Gen. Upendra Dwivedi, kept a close eye on the situation during Hasina’s flight.

Subsequently, Lt Gen Johnson Philip Mathew, the commander of the Integrated Defence Staff, and Gen Dwivedi, the head of intelligence agencies, met at a high level.

Hasina was met by key authorities and National Security Adviser Ajit Doval upon her arrival at Hindon airfield in Ghaziabad.

It was discovered that following a meeting with Indian officials, Hasina had been relocated to a secure area. According to media sources, she might have relocated to the UK.

On Monday night, however, the plan looked hazy after Bangladesh’s people were told in London that they “deserve a full and independent UN-led investigation into the events of the past few weeks” by British Foreign Secretary David Lammy.
