India Fights Naxalism: The Security forces have achieved a major success in the operation launched to eliminate Naxalism. Notorious Naxalite commander Madvi Hidma has been killed by the security forces in Andhra Pradesh. In addition to Hidma, five other Naxalites were also killed by security forces.
An encounter was underway between security forces and Naxalites near Alluri Sitaram district (earlier known as Visakhapatnam district) in Andhra Pradesh, adjacent to the Sukma district of Chhattisgarh. Hidma, who had a bounty of 45 lakh rupees on his head, his wife Raje, and SZCM Tek Shankar, who had a bounty of 25 lakh rupees on his head, were killed in the encounter.
After several hours of firing, six Naxalites were killed in the encounter. Another Naxalite was also killed in Sukma, bringing the total number of Naxalites killed to seven.
Police acted on tip-off
According to police sources, this encounter took place on the border of Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Telangana. Police had received information about several Naxalites hiding in these forests. A search operation was launched based on a tip-off. Firing has been ongoing between security forces and Naxalites since this morning. Police have also killed one Naxalite in Sukma. Meanwhile, six Naxalites, including Hidma, were killed in an encounter in Andhra Pradesh.
According to Alluri Sitaram district Superintendent of Police Amit Bardar, the encounter began around 6:30-7 a.m. this morning in the forest of Maredumilli Mandal. So far, six Naxalites have been reported killed. This was a joint operation conducted by the police and security forces.
Hidma’s wife also killed
It should be noted that Madvi Hidma is considered one of the most feared Naxalites. Hidma was the mastermind of several Naxalite attacks, which killed 26 security personnel and civilians. The police had placed a bounty of 50 lakh rupees on Hidma. In addition to Hidma, his wife Raje also died in the encounter.

Who was Madvi Hidma?
Hidma was born in Sukma district in 1981. After leading the People’s Liberation Army’s guerrilla battalion, he became a member of the CPI-Maoist’s Central Committee. Hidma was the only member of this committee from the Bastar region. Hidma’s name first came to prominence after the Jhiram Valley attack. Following this, Hidma carried out numerous Naxalite attacks, and for decades, his name resonated throughout the region.
Hidma was the commander of one of the country’s deadliest Maoist battalion, known as the Maoist Battalion No. 1. This battalion is known for carrying out the largest and most organized attacks across the Naxalite belt. Recently, the organization appointed Hidma a member of the Central Committee and appointed him in charge of Battalion No. 1. He has now been replaced by Barse Deva, a resident of his village, as the new battalion commander.
