Iran claimed to have requested the US to “step aside” as Hezbollah, its principal Middle East proxy, alerted the Jewish state to impending war and Iran was getting ready to respond to a possible Israeli strike on its consulate in Syria.
According to Mohammad Jamshidi, the deputy chief of staff for political affairs under the Iranian president, Iran sent a written warning to the US not to fall into Israel’s trap. Jamshidi made this revelation on social networking site X.
In return, Jamshidi claimed, the US requested that Iran refrain from striking US targets.
Regarding the purported message that Iran sent, the US has remained silent.
According to CNN, the US is bracing for a “significant” Iranian reaction against US or Israeli sites in the area and is on high alert. The US official’s name was withheld by the network.
According to NBC, which cited two anonymous US officials, President Joe Biden’s administration is worried that any strike would occur within Israel, notably on “military or intelligence targets, rather than civilians.”
According to Bloomberg, the Biden administration did take the unprecedented step of informing Iran directly that the US was not informed of Monday’s strike on Damascus. That implied that the US was attempting to stop an attack on its own troops and bases in the Middle East.
The Islamic Republic has threatened to “slap” its worst foe, Israel. It’s still unknown when that would occur or if Iran would attempt to strike Israel directly or via one of its proxy organizations, like the Lebanon-based Hezbollah.
At least seven Iranians, including two generals, were killed when an airstrike struck the Iranian consulate in Damascus. Although Israel has been hitting Iranian assets in Syria on several occasions in recent months, this was the first time an assault targeted an Iranian diplomatic facility.
Since then, Israel has increased air defenses, called up reserves, and cancelled combat troops’ home leave. It has also been on high alert. In order to thwart GPS-navigated drones or missiles that might be fired towards the nation, its military jumbled navigational signals over Tel Aviv on Thursday.

Hassan Nasrallah, the head of Hezbollah, stated on Friday that Iran will surely respond to Israel’s attack. However, he declared, his organization will not “interfere in such decisions.”
Nasrallah emphasized the concerted efforts of the Iranian resistance forces operating in the area.
The most potent militia in the Middle East, Hezbollah, said that since the Israel-Hamas war began on October 7, the organization has not utilized “its primary arsenal” in the daily clashes with Israel along Lebanon’s southern border.
According to Nasrallah, Hezbollah is “completely prepared and ready” for any conflict with Israel.
