Stolen: Abhishek Banerjee steals the show

Bollywood News: When OGs like Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane are involved, it’s justified to expect a thrill ride. ‘Stolen’ is one of those rare Indian films that derives it’s narrative from the heartlands of the country which are seldom part of the mainstream fare.
A straightforward story, that involves a lower-caste woman fighting to get back her trafficked child, and two brothers embroiled in the ensuing mashup, takes no recourse to fancy gimmicks or an ornamented production.
Instead, the film subtly delves into the conundrum of caste divides, wealth disparities, and moral corruption plaguing the country. Gear up to witness one of the best shot car chase sequences in contemporary Hindi cinema, that’s not only exhilarating, but also a cinematic metaphor of truth being relentlessly afflicted by a desert of lies.
A huge shout out to Abhishek Banerjee and Mia Maelzer for their taut and terrific portrayals. It’s a 90 minute capsule of edge-of-the-seat rush that’ll keep your adrenaline flowing even after the credits roll out.
Cheers to Karan Tejpal for coming up with a debut that’s quite brilliant even with its moments of imperfections. If you’re looking for decent thrill, you can absolutely rely on this one.
