Kolkata: The tragic death of an 18-year-old first-year student at Jadavpur University, Swapnodeep Kundu, has left the campus community shocked and grieving. Kundu lost his life after falling from the second floor of a hostel building, and his last words, “I am not gay,” have raised concerns and further deepened the mystery surrounding his unfortunate demise.
According to police sources, Kundu repeatedly uttered these words to his fellow students before the fatal fall. This statement has led to speculations about the circumstances preceding his death. However, it is crucial to approach this situation with sensitivity and respect for Kundu’s memory.
Jadavpur University incident: Police has arrested the accused
The Kolkata Police arrested an ex-student relating to Kundu’s death. Police has arrested Sourabh Chowdhury who previously had completed his MSc in Mathematics in the University in 2022 but he continued to stay at the University hostel. He accepted his involvement in ragging that eventually ended up in suicide. Police arrested him following his admission of guilt. He has been charged under Section 302/34 of the Indian Penal Code.
Swapnodeep Kundu was from Nadia district and was a student of Bachelor of Arts in Bengali. The deceased’s body was discovered in a naked state after the tragic incident. This detail only adds to the complexity of the case and has raised questions about what might have occurred leading up to his fall. Students rushed upon hearing the loud sound only to find out that Kundu was lying dead in a pool of blood nakedly.
