T20 World Cup: A contentious moment occurred during the Super 8 clash between Afghanistan and Bangladesh at the T20 World Cup match when Afghan star Gulbadin Naib collapsed to the ground, seemingly hurt.
As Bangladesh trailed on the Duckworth-Lewis par score in the rain-soaked Super 8 match, Trott was seen on camera urging his players to calm down. Naib, who was fielding in the slip cordon, complained of cramping during the 12th over, which was bowled by spinner Noor Ahmad.
At that point, Bangladesh was 81 for 7, two runs behind the DLS par score in a revised chase of 114 in 19 overs. The competition was frequently interrupted by rain. In the end, Afghanistan won by eight runs to qualify for their first-ever quarterfinal at an ICC tournament.
As it began to rain again and players raced to the dugout, teammate Naveen-ul-Haq treated Naib and helped him off the field with assistance from the staff.
Given that Naib was allegedly fabricating an injury, can he be banned? ‘Time-wasting’ is classified as a level 1 or level 2 offense under Article 2.10.7 of the ICC Code of Conduct. Two suspension points and a 100% match-fee fine are the maximum penalties for a Level 1 transgression.
A player may be suspended for one Test match, two ODIs, or two Twenty20 matches if they receive four suspension points in a calendar year. In addition, a bowler or a fielder who uses a time-wasting strategy may be penalized five runs under Article 41.9 of the ICC’s T20I playing conditions.
Although it is within the umpire’s power to do so, this was not done in the Super 8 match between Afghanistan and Bangladesh at the T20 World Cup.
If it is determined that timewasting was done on purpose, there is a clause allowing investigation following the game.
“If the umpires believe that the act of time wasting was deliberate or repetitive, they may lodge a report under the ICC Code of Conduct. In such circumstances the Captain and/or any individual members of the fielding team responsible for the time wasting will be charged,” according to the ICC playing conditions.

So far, there has been no information indicating that Naib is the subject of an inquiry by the ICC or match officials.
Furthermore, Naib has acknowledged that he was having injury problems, thus it is challenging to demonstrate that the time was wasted on purpose.
