Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi, who is scheduled to take oath of the office as Prime Minister for the third time in a row with some of his council of ministers, has asked them to stay in the national capital for the next 24 hours.
Former Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar, who is likely to be inducted in the Modi 3.0 government, told media persons that the Prime Minister-elect has asked all those who attended the customary high tea meeting at Modi’s official residence, to remain in New Delhi for the next 24 hours.
“…some formalities were to be done, which I have completed. He has asked us to stay in Delhi for the next 24 hours,” the senior BJP leader said was quoted as saying.
Khattar, who resigned as Haryana’s chief minister in March this year and was succeeded in office by Nayab Singh Saini, contested the just-concluded Lok Sabha elections – his first – from the Karnal parliamentary seat. He defeated Congress’ Divyanshu Budhiraja by a margin of 232,577 votes, as per the data of the Election Commission of India.
Meanwhile, the Members of Parliament (MPs) who are likely to take oath as members of the Council of Ministers include JP Nadda, Nitin Gadkari, Rajnath Singh, Piyush Goyal, and Jyotiraditya Scindia.
HD Kumaraswamy JD(S) is also likely join the ministerial ranks.

Other potential leaders from NDA-member parties include Chirag Paswan (LJP), Ram Nath Thakur JD(U), and Jitan Ram Manji (HAM). Furthermore, Jayant Chaudhary (RLD), Anupriya Patel (Apna Dal (Soneylal)), Rammohan Naidu (TDP), and Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani (TDP) are also anticipated to be part of the council.
All MPs who will be part of the Modi’s Council of Ministers were called to attend the tea party at his official residence at 11.30 am.
Narendra Modi is the first leader since former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru to be elected for a third consecutive term after completing the full tenure of each previous term.
President of India Droupadi Murmu will administer the oath of office to Modi and his Council of Ministers at a ceremony in Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Hundreds of people, including foreign leaders, are expected to attend the same.
