The left-handed batsman has a remarkable strike rate of 98.12 in ODI World Cups, eclipsing the prior joint record held by Sachin Tendulkar and AB de Villiers across 20 innings. Warner, recognized for his outstanding performances, has claimed the Player of the Match award four times in ODI World Cups, achieving a top score of 178 against Afghanistan.
On the other hand, Australia has opted for Glenn Maxwell as their second spinner alongside Adam Zampa, displaying confidence in his bowling abilities. Maxwell expressed contentment with his bowling form and emphasized his clear understanding of his technique at this stage of his career.
Despite initial concerns about his fitness, he has diligently tested and fine-tuned his performance, assuring his readiness for the match against India at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. As the Chepauk track is anticipated to favor spinners, India is likely to field a trio of slow bowlers – Ravichandran Ashwin, Kuldeep Yadav, and Ravindra Jadeja.
