IND vs AUS World Cup 2023: David Warner Becomes Fastest To Score 1000 Run In WC, Breaks Sachin, De Villiers Record

The left-handed batsman has a remarkable strike rate of 98.12 in ODI World Cups, eclipsing the prior joint record held by Sachin Tendulkar and AB de Villiers across 20 innings.

During Australia’s clash with India in Chennai, opener David Warner made history, becoming the quickest to reach 1000 runs in an ODI World Cup, achieving the feat in just 19 innings. Surpassing legends Sachin Tendulkar and AB de Villiers records of just 20 innings.

Warner reached this milestone with a boundary off Hardik Pandya in the seventh over, showcasing his exceptional form. Additionally, India’s captain Rohit Sharma is on the cusp of joining this elite club, needing 22 more runs to surpass Warner’s record.

The left-handed batsman has a remarkable strike rate of 98.12 in ODI World Cups, eclipsing the prior joint record held by Sachin Tendulkar and AB de Villiers across 20 innings. Warner, recognized for his outstanding performances, has claimed the Player of the Match award four times in ODI World Cups, achieving a top score of 178 against Afghanistan.

On the other hand, Australia has opted for Glenn Maxwell as their second spinner alongside Adam Zampa, displaying confidence in his bowling abilities. Maxwell expressed contentment with his bowling form and emphasized his clear understanding of his technique at this stage of his career.

Despite initial concerns about his fitness, he has diligently tested and fine-tuned his performance, assuring his readiness for the match against India at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. As the Chepauk track is anticipated to favor spinners, India is likely to field a trio of slow bowlers – Ravichandran Ashwin, Kuldeep Yadav, and Ravindra Jadeja. Maxwell boasts an impressive track record in ODIs, securing 64 wickets with four four-wicket hauls and maintaining an economical bowling rate of 5.54 for Australia in the 50-over format.
