- 300 drones or missiles were launched by Iran toward Israel.
- This comprised 30 cruise missiles, 120 ballistic missiles, and 170 drones.
- Every drone and cruise missile was successfully intercepted by Israel’s defence system.
- Approximately half of Iran’s ballistic missile launches were unsuccessful or crashed before they could reach their targets in Israel.
- According to the Institute for the Study of War, “the missile-drone attack on Israel was very likely intended to cause significant damage below the threshold that would trigger a massive Israeli response.” Thus, the question is: Did Iran stage the attack to avoid a counterattack?
- According to reports, Iran’s strike against Israel was modeled after the ones that the Russians had successfully employed against Ukraine on several occasions.
- However, the Israelis and their allies intercepted 99% of the Russian ballistic missiles, compared to the Ukrainian air defenses, which only intercepted 46% on average.
