Players upset as Team India gets stuck at Trinidad airport for 6 hours

West Indies vs India: The Indian cricket team won the Test series against the West Indies by a 1-0 margin. Team India won the first Test by an innings and 141 runs while the second match ended in a draw due to rain when the Indians were in a winning position.

The ODI series is next up after the Test series and Team India has reached Barbados for the first 50-over clash against the West Indies.

However, while traveling to Barbados, Team India had to face a lot of trouble.

Team India had to wait for almost 6 and a half hours at Trinidad airport. The team was supposed to take a flight at 11 pm, but it took off after 4 hours i.e. at 3 am.

According to a report in the Indian Express, the Indian players left for the airport at 8:40 pm but the flight was cleared to take off at 3 am. The team reached Barbados at 5 am. The players and staff are not happy with this and have requested the BCCI to arrange for early morning flights.

“The players left the hotel for the airport at 8:40 pm and had to wait for a long time at the airport. The team management has requested us to book an early morning flight instead of a late night flight as the players want some rest after the game. The BCCI has agreed to this and next time a similar travel schedule will also be given,” a BCCI official told the media.

The players were hoping for some rest after the Test series ended 1-0 in their favour. The final day of the Second Test was completely washed out due to rain, due to which a draw was declared. Most of the players from the Test team have also been included in the ODI team.

In such a situation, even a short break is very beneficial. Players included in the team for the white ball series like Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya had already reached Barbados.

Many players have sought a day off from practice due to travel difficulties. The team will return to Trinidad after the conclusion of the second ODI on July 29 to wrap up the series at the Queen’s Park Oval. The T20 series will be played here.
