His remarkable averages of 81.50 in T20 World Cups and 48.47 in 50-over World Cups underscore his unmatched caliber in ICC.

India’s batter Virat Kohli, the cricketing maestro, has earned a formidable reputation for delivering match-winning performances, especially against powerhouse opponents, and there’s no bigger stage than ICC events to showcase his prowess. Kohli’s record against Australia speaks volumes, with impressive averages in Tests, ODIs, and T20Is, demonstrating his consistent excellence. His remarkable averages of 81.50 in T20 World Cups and 48.47 in 50-over World Cups underscore his unmatched caliber in ICC tournaments.

Virat Kohli’s match-winning knocks

In the ICC Champions Trophy, his remarkable average of 88.16 across 13 games further solidifies his ability to rise to the occasion on grand stages. Despite this, Kohli has only been part of one ICC title-winning team, the 2011 World Cup, a statistic he aims to amend in the ongoing home World Cup.

Steller 82 in 2019 WC

One of the lowest points in Kohli’s ODI career came during the 2015 World Cup semi-final, where a mistimed shot off Mitchell Johnson led to his dismissal for just one run off 13 deliveries. However, in the 2019 World Cup, Kohli showcased resilience, captaining India in a crucial match against Australia. Following a stellar start by openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan, Kohli displayed his prowess by crafting a crucial 77-ball 82, his first half-century against Australia in 50-over ICC events, propelling India to an imposing 352/5.

Chase-master Virat Kohli’s 85 in 2023 World Cup

In the ongoing 2023 World Cup, facing Australia once again, Kohli led the charge in Team India’s opening game. Despite a challenging pitch in Chennai and a tumultuous start, Kohli remained unfazed. Stepping up as the chase master, he scored a crucial 85 off 116 deliveries, orchestrating a remarkable comeback alongside KL Rahul. Their 165-run partnership secured a remarkable six-wicket victory, reaffirming Kohli’s knack for successful ODI run-chases with an outstanding average of 88.98.

During this innings, Kohli also solidified his position in the top 10 leading World Cup scorers, amassing 1,115 runs. Merely 111 runs away from climbing to the fourth position, Kohli is poised to achieve yet another milestone in this World Cup, adding to his illustrious cricketing legacy.
