Cricket in Olympics Games Los Angeles 2028
The IOC session approved a proposal by the 2028 Los Angeles Organizing Committee (@LA28) to add five new sports to the program. LA28 will feature baseball/softball, cricket (T20), flag football, lacrosse (six-a-side), and squash,” the ROK announced on X, previously (Twitter).
Here is what IOC said
“We’re witnessing a surge in cricket’s popularity, especially in the dynamic T20 format. The World Cup (50 overs) is already a tremendous success,” Bach expressed during the media briefing following the conclusion of the two-day Executive Board meeting on October 13.
In an exciting development, cricket’s shortest format, alongside baseball-softball, lacrosse (sixes), squash, and flag football, has been given the nod for inclusion exclusively in the Los Angeles Games in 2028. This marks cricket’s return to the Olympics for the first time since 1900.
