The concept of naming the best fielder after each match was introduced by T Dilip, the fielding coach of the Indian cricket team. This idea gained popularity on social media, and the name of the best fielder was displayed on the electronic display board in Pune. In a unique twist, the spider camera brought the photo of the best fielder to the audience after the match against the Tom Latham-led side in Dharamshala.

T Dilip, the fielding coach, emphasized that the ‘Fielder of the Match’ award is not solely based on statistics but also takes into account the impact of a player’s fielding contributions on the game. It recognizes those players who bring a positive spirit to the field and make significant contributions.
