Asia Cup 2023: Boost for Team India as Virat Kohli clears Yo-Yo test

Asia Cup 2023: Prior to the Asia Cup 2023, which begins on August 30, Team India’s star batter Virat Kohli announced that he has passed his Yo-Yo Test.

Virat Kohli expressed his joy at passing the test “between the dreaded cones” on Instagram.

One of Virat Kohli’s most notable accomplishments as Team India captain was the introduction of the Yo-Yo Test, which is regarded as one of his leadership’s greatest advantages. It was created by Jens Bangsbo, a football physiologist from Denmark, and includes running between markers spaced 20 yards apart at increasing speeds until you become exhausted.

The necessary running pace is determined by audio prompts. After running 40 metres, a participant takes a 10-second pause before repeating the same distance. The needed running pace rises at regular intervals. The test continues until the individual is unable to maintain the required running pace.

Virat Kohli is in excellent form

Virat Kohli is expected to play a key role for Team India at the upcoming Asia Cup 2023.

This year, Virat Kohli has been in excellent shape. He has scored 427 runs at an average of 53.37 in 10 ODIs this year, including two tonnes, a fifty, and a high of 166 against Sri Lanka.

He has scored 984 runs at an average of 54.66 in 17 games across all forms this year, including four centuries and two half-centuries. In the Border-Gavaskar Trophy match against Australia, he recorded a score of 186.

He also did well in the IPL 2023. Despite the fact that his side, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), was unable to advance to the playoffs, he managed to amass 639 runs in 14 innings at an average of 53.25 and a strike rate of 139.25, while also hitting two hundreds and six fifty-sixes. He finished the competition with the fourth-most runs scored.

The Asia Cup, which will be hosted in Pakistan and Sri Lanka, will begin on August 30. The Men in Blue’s first game will be against archrival Pakistan on September 2 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy.

Comebacks boost Team India

Jasprit Bumrah’s comeback to ODI cricket after a break of more than a year is also commemorated by the squad. Bumrah will put himself to the test in the 50-over format leading up to the World Cup after demonstrating his fitness in the current T20I series against Ireland. Mohammed Siraj’s comeback to the team after missing time with an injured ankle will help India’s pace attack.

Tilak Varma was selected for India’s Asia Cup team as a result of his impressive showing against the West Indies during the tour’s conclusion this month.

Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel, two bowling all-rounders, are also included in the squad to provide the captain extra options. In addition to Pandya, the team also has all-around player Ravindra Jadeja.

India, Pakistan in same group

Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Sri Lanka are in Group B, while Pakistan, India, and Nepal are in Group A. Pakistan will host four matches over two locations during the tournament, while Sri Lanka will host the other matches.

The Super Fours will start on September 6 and follow the six group-stage games.

The top two teams will meet in the final on September 17 in Colombo following the conclusion of the Super Fours.
