The decision to fix public and private bank holidays is taken by the RBI. At the beginning of every year, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) releases the calendar of holidays. Banks are going to remain closed for a total of 14 days in August 2023. This includes the second and fourth Saturday and Sunday holidays. Rest of the days are bank holidays at regional and national level.
Banks will remain closed for 15 days in August
According to the Reserve Bank of India, there will be 14 days bank holiday in August 2023. In this, the bank will remain closed on August 6, 12, 13, 20, 26 and 27 due to Sundays and second-fourth Saturdays. Apart from this, there are many festivals in the country this month due to which there will be a holiday in the banks. In the month of August, banks are going to remain closed on many other occasions including Independence Day, Raksha Bandhan.
