In the meantime, authorities reported that a landslip early on Friday morning in the State’s Solan district forced the closure of the Shimla-Kalka road on National Highway-5.

After a week, this route was reopened on Thursday. Over 200 roads are still closed, according to Himachal Pradesh’s Minister of Revenue and Horticulture, Jagat Singh Negi, and repair work is under progress.

“The Kalka-Shimla road was also shut last night as a result of the severe rain; however, work to restore it is currently ongoing, and light vehicles can now use it. Over 200 roads in the state are closed, and restoration efforts are in progress. Additionally, over 200 electricity supply networks have been chamfered. Our police and teams are at the incident spot,” Negi told the media.

A yellow alert was issued yesterday by the regional meteorological service in Shimla for possible light to moderate rain and thunder in some areas of Himachal Pradesh.
