The ICC World Cup 2023 trophy reached New Zealand first. The trophy was warmly received in the New Zealand city of Auckland. The trophy was brought to Eden Park, New Zealand’s famous stadium, where the 2015 World Cup semi-final between New Zealand and South Africa was played. Former player Grant Elliott, who won New Zealand in this match by hitting six, welcomed the trophy. Fans were desperate to catch a glimpse of the trophy in Auckland and the event turned out in huge numbers.

 

Shane Warne remembered in Melbourne

After New Zealand, the ICC World Cup trophy reached Australia. The trophy was welcomed in a grand manner on the grounds of Melbourne. At the same time, tribute was also paid to veteran leg-spinner Shane Warne on this occasion. The World Cup trophy was placed near a stand named after Shane Warne. Fans lined up around Shane Warne’s statue to remember the former Kangaroo spinner’s match-winning spell against South Africa in 1999.

The ICC World Cup 2023 is to start on October 5. In the first match of the tournament, defending champions England will clash with New Zealand. This time the tournament will be played in round robin format and each team will play a total of 9 matches. The team occupying the top four positions will qualify for the semi-finals.
