Indian Army mulling drone-based ambulances for battle casualties

The Indian Army is apparently investigating the use of cargo drones as short-range air ambulances to quickly remove wounded soldiers from the battlefield, which is ground-breaking initiative.

drone is seen being used to convey stretcher—possibly holding dummy—across makeshift battleground in widely shared social media photo released by the Indian Army.

Drone technology has enormous promise for medical evacuation. Drones can reach difficult-to-reach areas that conventional ambulances cannot, greatly speeding up response times and possibly saving lives. Drones can also function in dangerous settings, reducing the risk to rescue workers.
