AUS vs AFG World Cup 2023: Rashid Khan hammers 16 runs to Mitchell Starc in 50th over to put respectable total against Australia

This was a historic moment as Ibrahim Zadran became the first-ever Afghan player to score a century in the World Cup.

Rashid Khan, known for his incredible all-round abilities, showcased his batting prowess with a brilliant cameo of 35 runs off just 18 deliveries. His innings included two boundaries and three sixes, and he remained unbeaten. Notably, Rashid scored 16 runs against the formidable Australian bowler Mitchell Starc in the crucial 50th over of the innings.

Ibrahim Zadran’s century

Zadran’s century was indeed the highlight of the Afghan innings. He played a magnificent innings, scoring 129* runs off 143 balls, which included seven boundaries and a maximum. Zadran withstood the challenge posed by the Australian pace attack at the beginning of the innings and later took on the spinners during the middle overs.

Nevertheless, Zadran’s century and Rashid Khan’s late blitz helped Afghanistan set a competitive target of 291 for Australia.
